Colorado has one of the most dangerous snowpacks in the United States due to its' colder and dry climate, lower snow depths, and wind affected layers. All of our avalanche education courses are taught in the high country of Rocky Mountain National Park which is the ideal training ground for mountain enthusiasts of all abilities and backgrounds. We focus on learning practical methods to assist in making more objective-based decisions in the mountains.
All of our courses are taught by Eli Helmuth, an AMGA certified Ski Mountaineering Guide and Level 3 certified avalanche professional who is the avalanche forecaster for Rocky Mountain National Park where he has lived and trained backcountry enthusiasts for the past 11 years. Eli has had a life-long passion and extensive background in all of the high-mountain sports.
In these small classes we are able to explore in-depth the backcountry of RMNP and the snowpack, weather, and terrain factors which directly relate to the likelihood of an avalanche occuring. Through hands-on experiencs and travel through the alpine backcountry, we can explore a variety of avalanche terrain and maximize our experiential learning in a personalized setting.
